Designs for Fun
This is a two-person foldable and portable bench. It is suitable for field trips and camping. The bench’s cloth pillow becomes a backpack into which the bench is folded.
The fascinating aesthetic of the Zulu culture inspired this project. The board and figures are made from wenge wood (Millettia laurentii) from Central Africa. The chess pieces are carved Zulu warriors. Both the pieces and board are crafted following local methods.
“Praintride” is a road bike whose chassis is made from aluminum tubing connected to plastic parts with plastic “painting”. The bike is fully equipped and operational. I managed a team of five builders and we worked collaboratively to produce this ecologically minded 3D printed ride.
